Welcome to Nepal which is the 50th country to sign up for Fascination of Plants Day this year. Welcome also to Tanzania and Guyana which also recently came on board.
Fascination of Plants Day is a global event run for the first time this year. It saw 39 countries participate, with a total of 600 events!
The goal was to generate an appreciation around the globe for plants, the role they play in our everyday lives and in particular the importance of plant science.
Would you, your organisation or school be interested in running an event in honour of the day?
Any event that is engaging and highlights the importance of plants would be perfect!
The event can be tailored for the general public community, special interest groups, school or university students – anyone!
And the event doesn’t have to be on the exact day – it be run leading up to May 18th 2013
|An event can be as simple as a tour of a facility involved with plants or a talk related to plants or plant science. For those who are creative, why not run a photo or art exhibition or competition? For the scientifically inclined, why not create an experiment for school students or for the general public. Alternatively, write an article about plants or plant research for your website, blog, bulletin, newsletter, or even the media? Perhaps you could be interviewed on the radio?
