General Information



The Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics offers summer scholarships to undergraduate students who are keen to pursue a career in Plant biotechnology.

Scholars Receive:

  • $250 Tax Free per week
  • Excellent support from both supervisors and peers
  • Access to state of the art equipment and resources Industry relevant experience
  • First hand experience in genomics research and instrumentation
  • Opportunities to make valuable contacts

Summer scholarships run for six to eight weeks from December to February. It can be expected that work could begin on the first of December, however, commencement dates may be negotiated with your supervisor. Payment is on a fortnightly basis. Relevant forms will be provided once your application has been approved.

ACPFG summer scholarships are run in conjunction with the University of Adelaide's Science Faculty, School of Agriculture and Wine, located at the Waite Campus.

Prerequisites



Students must be studying Science, Biotechnology or Agricultural Science. Majors or degree's in the following fields are also acceptable:

  • Bioinformatics
  • Computer Science
  • Molecular Biology
  • Genetics
  • Biochemistry
  • Plant Physiology
  • Mathematical Science

Evidence of a strong performance (usually a credit average) is required.

Applications for 08/09 summer scholarships close on the 14th of November, 2008.

How to Apply



Send a letter of interest, highlighting why you wish to complete a summer scholarship, a copy of your academic transcript and personal resume to Monica Ogierman.

An interview with appropriate supervisors will then be organized.

Note: Successful applicants will be required to fill out tax forms, pay roll forms and an ACPFG confidentiality agreement.

Available Projects

Project topics can be negotiated with supervisors. This will be discussed at the interview.
