The ACPFG is one of the largest cereal crop genomics facilities in the southern hemisphere, employing more than 100 research scientists and associated staff.

The ACPFG's headquarters are located at the Waite Institute, South Australia in the new 'Plant Genomics Centre'. However, other research nodes are located at the University of Melbourne, DPI at Latrobe University and the University of Queensland.

The Plant Genomics Centre has been built to house the ACPFG research team. It also houses the Molecular Plant Breeding Cooperative Research Centre (MPB CRC), South Australian Research and Development institute and the agricultural node of the Australian Genomics Research Facility.
