The Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics



With the facilities available at the Waite Precinct and the new Resources available at the new ACPFG headquarters - The Plant Genomics Centre, staff and students will have access to the most up to date plant biotechnology resources. Further benefits of the ACPFG are that it has nodes the University of Melbourne, Department of Primary Industries at La Trobe University and at the University of Queensland. This provides us access to researchers at different institutions.

The high research standards and facilities at the ACPFG have ensured we have the critical mass to attract leading international and national research scientists. The ACPFG is already home to world renowned research scientists, and when fully operational it will be home 100 research scientists and associated staff. This team will conduct research that is of direct significance to Australian Agriculture and cereal producers globally.

Research scientists from the ACPFG have had their work recognised with the results being published in the most prestigious and high quality national and international journals.

The Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics is located at the University of Adelaide’s Waite Campus, South Australia. The Waite is Australia's leading agricultural research, education and commercialisation cluster. It has the largest concentration of expertise in the southern hemisphere in the areas of plant biotechnology, cereal breeding, sustainable agriculture, wine and horticulture and land management.

The Waite's unique collocation of a number of Australia's leading agricultural and environmental research organisations is home to over 1000 staff and postgraduate students. The annual research expenditure of the collocated partners is more than $110 million per annum. This research delivers outcomes of direct significance to both Australian and international agriculture and wine industries.

We continue to consolidate and extend our partnerships with venture capital groups, commercial support companies and industry to transfer our technologies, products and services to market.
